ABOUT the Author BELINDA VASQUEZ GARCIA

As a child, I was fascinated by witches. My family often spoke of the supernatural and believed in witchcraft. My fictional books reach beyond regional geography to entice anyone who enjoys the world of mysticism, the power of magic and sorcery, but with spice.

I was born in the Los Angeles area and, also, grew up in the Land of Enchantment in Albuquerque. My family was poor. My mother had an 8th grade education and my father was a high school dropout. At twelve years of age, my father deserted our family.

My grandparents attended a dance one night at a ranch. A nest of known witches showed up, furious at not receiving an invitation. Everyone witnessed their magical power as they darted straight up, landing on a cliff about fifty feet high. The witches looked down upon the partygoers, cussing at them and spitting, but were only interested in frightening the crowd that night.

My grandmother used to cut my brother's hair, and then burn the cuttings so no witch or warlock could harm him by using any physical part of him to cast a spell or make an effigy.

I confess to being a perfectionist and do an awful lot of research to add as much realism as possible to my paranormal books or any other supernatural novels I write.

I have a degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of New Mexico (click here to learn more) and worked as a Software Engineer and Web Developer for Sandia National Laboratory (click here to learn more). I was a former employee of Sun Microsystems and worked as a Java Programming Language Consultant for IBM-Tivoli. I confess to being a computer nerd and my own webmaster. Everything you see on my website has always been done by me. I applied my extensive knowledge of technology to write a children’s book entitled Alices Misdventures in Computer Land. The book is the tale of an eleven year-old girl who is accidentally pulled into the heart of the computer where she meets various characters who propel her into an unknown world bounded by both reality and fantasy. The book reflects my desire to encourage children, especially girls, to become interested in and pursue careers in technology, mathematics and science. This is especially significant with the advent of a global community where the U.S. is challenged to properly educate its children and prepare them for a highly competitive world.

Return of the Bones will be coming out in the summer! Inspired by a true story about a Native American shaman and his granddaughter who travel with a magical dream catcher to Harvard in a ratty pickup-camper to retrieve the family bones stolen 84 years earlier.

I'm doing the final editing of the second book in The Witch Narratives which will be coming out in the fall. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank you for your interest in my books!
